Full Review of the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl

This mixer comes at an almost unbelievably low price and basically is a perfect example of you get what you pay for, in this case a non-rotating bowl which is why the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl specifically does not claim to be a stand mixer and some beaters and a dough hook, all of which are perfectly acceptable.

The Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl in use.

I dont do a lot of baking, so I was looking for a nice cheap mixer and the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl ticks that box, so in that respect I am more than happy. I was a little surprised to find that the bowl did not rotate with the friction of the cake mix against the beaters, but I suppose for the money I was a bit optimistic to think that this food mixer would behave top of the range. The buttons were rather stiff but the choice of five speeds was a pleasant discovery; my old mixer which the Cookworks Mixer replaced only had two! All in all, this mixer is okay for the occasional baker like me but I think that if you dont have strong hands and wrists this would probably be too heavy for you. You cant really use the Cookworks Hand Mixer on the stand, because if you do you have to keep stopping it and moving the mixture round to be under the blades.

Does it have any plus points?

Sorry to keep going on about this, but this Cookworks Mixer comes in at a very good price! If like me you make the occasional cake or loaf of bread, then this is a very good buy and will perform perfectly well. It feels solidly made and apart from the buttons being stiff which after all may be because I dont give it much use it doesnt really have any built in issues. The non-rotating bowl of the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl is the biggest gripe, but it doesnt claim to be a stand mixer, so really that is unfair. The small size does mean that it will get left out on the counter, so it will be used more than a great big thing that has to be got out each time.

Would I recommend the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl?

I would recommend the Cookworks Hand Mixer with Bowl as a good all round cheap mixer. It would make a perfect present for a student who might want to whip up a cake to impress a boyfriend (or girlfriend) and will probably use it once a term. For your elderly mother with a weak grip, this hand mixer would not be a good buy. So, horses for courses and it will be all right for some. The Hand Mixer has few frills, but the five speeds and the turbo button make it quite versatile, within its admitted limits. The best price we could find it for is £ from . You get a variety of speeds that are perfect for any mixing job. The instructions are well written so that anyone can understand them. The bowl must be rotated by hand.
