Full Review of the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400
The Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 is a sleek and sexy hand mixer designed to withstand all that you and your inspired recipes have got to throw at it. With multiple settings and a variety of attachments, will the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome be my ideal kitchen companion?
So whats in the box?
The Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 is a sturdy hand mixer that weighs in at a decent 1.3kg. While this is pretty heavy, it by no means requires muscles of steel to hold over long periods. Instead, you feel as though you are holding a solid and hardy piece of equipment that will not break in use.
Admittedly, the chrome finish on the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome is very appealing but beware, a chrome finish leaves every single finger print on its surface which suddenly becomes very unsexy. In addition to this, the Chrome version can be a little more slippery than the Soft Touch version so just bear that in mind.
As far as attachments are concerned, the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 comes with two multi-purpose flat beaters, two dough hooks and one balloon whisk which is a nice extra. All of the accessories are also dishwasher safe which is great.
The Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 is your average hand mixer size so no unpleasant surprises there. What I have come to appreciate is the built in cable store so when you have finished using it, you can neatly store the cable in the base of the mixer as if it never happened. Brilliant!
Unlike some of the cheaper models, you can stand this Dualit mixer on its end. This is great for when you are using it and want to take a break or when you want to store it as it doesnt take up much room in the cupboard.
Does the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome perform?
The Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 has a pretty powerful 300W motor which is enough to deal with batter, dough and the like. Although it is powerful, just bear in mind that it is only 300W which greatly differs from the larger stand motors so it cant deal with huge amounts of mixture at once but it will certainly give it its best shot.
There are five mixing speeds in total and all are very powerful and responsive. That being said, the motor is not too loud at all, even when using the faster settings which is great.
Any drawbacks I should know of?
I suppose the only drawbacks worth mentioning are actually what would also be considered to be real advantages of the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome. Of course, as previously mentioned, the chrome finish is very sexy but also prone to attracting those fingerprints which is a bit of a downer. The chrome finish can also be a bit slippery which could translate into easier to drop.
The retracting power cable is a nifty feature but in order to have this feature, it means that the cable is only 1m long as compared to the average 1.7m length. While this is not really a trainsmash, it does mean that you will need to be fairly close to a power source when using it.
Whats the verdict on the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400?
Overall the Dualit Hand Mixer Chrome 88400 is a very good looking hand mixer with a decent motor and an innovative cable store. I think that it is a great little mixer and is a good choice for any kitchen. The best price we could find it for is £52.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
