Full Review of the Gordon Ramsay Cooks Stand Mixer CGRSM001
Gordon Ramsay has managed to put his name on pretty much everything under the sun these days, and of course no self-respecting chef would miss the opportunity to get their name on a staple of the kitchen, the mixer. But does this stand mixer do Gordons reputation justice?
So whats in the box?
The Gordon Ramsay Cooks Stand Mixer is a retro looking piece of kit, it wouldnt be out of place in the seventies. If this is your kind of thing then youll certainly appreciate the aesthetics of this mixer.
The mixer itself is very solid and sturdy but it only contains a 450 watt twin motor which is not the most powerful you can get for your money in the world of stand mixers.
In addition to the motor unit you get two different sized mixing bowls to adjust the mixer to your needs. The smaller bowl has a 2.2 litre capacity and the larger bowl has a 4.4 litre capacity, both of which are stainless steel. The mixer can be adjusted using a lever at the front of the machine to accommodate each bowl.
In addition to this, you get one set of heavy duty beaters, one set of dough hooks and one of whisks. All of these accessories are stainless steel and dishwasher friendly which is always good for any busy household.
How does the Gordon Ramsay Cooks Stand Mixer perform?
Technically, the design of the Cooks Stand Mixer is quite clever as the mixing action is created by rotating the bowl in the opposite direction to the direction that the beaters turn. Brilliant in theory but in practice it is not so good as the mixer struggles to reach the entirety of the bowl. Now I have come to expect a degree of spatula intervention when using a mixer but the amount that is needed with this mixer is actually beyond a joke. Tisk tisk, come on Gordon!
There are twelve different speed options which is perhaps a bit overboard but nonetheless the options are there. The speed dial is located at the back of the motor unit and has clear markings indicating what speed should be used for which task.
But with all of this, perhaps the biggest letdown is that with the Cooks Stand Mixer, you can only knead 8oz of bread mix at a time which is hardly worth the effort.
So what are the drawbacks?
Well, to be honest, I found that the overall performance of the Cooks Stand Mixer was the biggest drawback of the machine. The beaters arent able to reach the bowl which leaves you doing much of it by hand which is a pain.
The small motor is also quite limiting and is remarkably loud for what it does.
Although it has nothing to do with the mixer itself, I really was hoping/expecting the Cooks Stand Mixer to come with a decent recipe book, but alas, there was nothing. What is useful however is the 2-year warranty card that you get with the mixer!
What do I think of the Gordon Ramsay Cooks Stand Mixer?
Overall this is a great looking device and if you are looking for a feature or point of interest in your kitchen. However when it comes to mixing, I give it a big thumbs down. The best price we could find it for is £84.96 from Amazon.co.uk. Open the Amazon.co.uk Online Store here to see this deal.

I bought this mixer at the local department store and it looked great on the display. After just a week I returned it. The first problem was that the bowl moved and the locking device was not working correctly. Plus it really didn’t have enough power and struggled to mix a small amount of cake batter. The thing that really did it was that it smelled like it was burning after using it for just a few minutes. For 159.99 pounds there are better mixers on the market that will get the job done.
